1940 - UNION SPEEDWAY
In 1940 and prior to World War 2 a 1/5 mile paved oval was laid within the 1/2 miler, all the racing was moved to the smaller track and the Midget Car racing took off in a big way.
Sadly World War 2 and the ban on all motorsports closed the speedway down. With no chance of any income from the venue, the owner sold off the land to developers to turn the land into an Industrial area. The Speedway closed in 1942.
